Determining who the greatest guitarist of all time is a constant debate. Everyone has their own opinions.

In this week’s episode of Ted Lasso, called La Locker Room Aux Folles, Coach Beard got into a heated debate with a reporter during a press conference about who was the greatest guitarist of all time.

The reporter, Gary, said that he quoted Coach Beard as having said “Joe Walsh is a better guitarist than Jimmy Page.” Beard counters with “But what I meatn was Joe Walsh, underrated. Jimmy Page, overrated.”

He goes on to say “I mean, Joe Walsh is a poet.”

Later in the converstaion Gary continues to counter with “Are you out of your mind? Page could beat Walsh with one string.”

Beard then goes on to say that it’s not a competition, it’s art and calls Gary a neanderthal.

When Rebecca, the AFC Richmond owner, intervenes with the press conference Marcus Adebayo, from The Independent, asks her “in you opinion, who is the greatest rock guitarist of all time?”

In the next scene Leslie, Rebecca’s assistant and Director of Communications, teases Rebecca for saying “the guy from Cream.”

Coach Beard filled in for Roy Kent during a press conference, who was supposed to filling in for Coach Lasso who had to attend a virtual parent-teacher conference.

Who is the greatest guitarist of all time?

This is a hard question to answer and all depends on what criteria you use to evaluate the guiatarists on. Whether you look at how many platinum records they sold, how many singles reached the Billboard 100, or another metric, the label of “best guitarist” is still a subjective evaluation.

Some would say that Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitarist of all time. But of course this is debatable, esepcially if you aren’t a fan of his music.
