How Do You Tune a Bass?

The bass tuner above will help you get your bass in perfect tune! But how do you use it? Follow these steps to get your bass in tune.

  1. Beginning with the G string. Press “Play” next to G above to begin playing the tone.
  2. Turn the tuning machine for the G string to match the pitch. If the pitch sounds like it’s getting further away, turn the other way. Caution: Don’t overtighten! Turning the tuning machine too tight can lead to the string breaking. Instead, rotate it a few millimeters at a time.
  3. Repeat for the remainder of the strings.

For a visual of how to tune your bass, you can watch the video below. The first video is for bass guitar, the secone video is for double bass.
